Episode 36: Evolution U.S.A.

Seems off topic, nevertheless, it should be clear, at this point, that the arrow of time is connected to evolution.   So assuming that a U.S.A. exists, it seems pretty evident that the Blue/Red issue looms large in terms of actually improving positive outcomes, concerning evolution of such an " entity " as U.S.A.    You just have to think about. If Blue/Red do not get along you have effectively reduced the gene pool by 50% then effectively reducing the resilience of the population of the assumed entity: " U.S.A. " Say it backwards one time : " A.S.U. "

Episode 35: Words

Obviously Scrabble  is one of our culture's most  important tools for connecting with words. Are words good or bad?  Of course, we often say such a word is " bad ".  And in Scrabble   there are permitted words and not permitted.  You get points or not.   But connecting with words in social environments (formal and informal) is extremely helpful. Now, I have to say one thing (THING), because for us, right now, the kinds of words we use can be  helpful. Certain words like Democracy or democracy are wonderful words, but they are not always helpful, in less formal environments, because of the levels of complexity within the word and emotions  connected to it.  It can be confusing.  There are many words of this type.  In some more formal  environments they can be more helpful What is important I think is that we recognize the emotional content and effects of some of our words, as well as some of our behaviors. We nee...

Episode 34: Old Voices - brings me to my knees

Listening to Old Voices Song by Odetta Lyrics They have come to haunt the children They have come to walk the wind I can hear them as they rustle through the trees Looking for the love that killed them So that they might live again It's a simple prayer that brings me to my knees With drums and bells and rattles They have caught us in our time To watch the eagle rise up from the fire Now is it true we are possessed By all the ones we leave behind Or is it by their lives we are inspired It's a new light, new day Listening for new meaning learning how to say It's a new place but you've always been here You're just listening to old voices with a new ear It's the livin' and the dyin' Well it scares the young ones so They can hardly catch their breath before too long They see the tears we're crying And they watch the river flow And they follow on the banks until it's gone I surrender to the mountains I surrender to the sea I surrender to the one who ...

Episode 33: A bit about justice

In our weekly reader we had an article about Peace & Justice. which you can find here:  Reader  by Ted Lewis.   He reflects on some very important ideas relating to these issues. I'd like to express some, perhaps,  different views on this, attempting to express  what I feel is going on with justice.   If you view a human being as a receptor, activator, then you must admit there is  a second system which evaluates responses. A governor you could say.    Likewise, in society we have something like that going on.  If that system is not functioning, as you could say, "in a good way",  interpreting reliable information, and properly evaluating responses, you obviously have serious problems. If it is not functioning correctly, it requires repair.  In ourselves this system requires continuous repair. To a large extent what we call " healing ", is exactly that process. How we do this as a community or as community ...
